Steering Committee
Savannah DSA’s elected leadership body coordinates chapter operations between General Meetings and carries out responsibilities assigned by the chapter’s governing documents and membership.
Role
Role and authority
Steering handles ongoing administrative and organizational work between General Meetings and helps coordinate work that crosses officers, committees, and working groups.
Its authority is limited by the chapter’s bylaws, handbook, standing rules, financial policies, and decisions of the General Membership.

Accountability
Maintaining clear lines of responsibility, supporting reporting, and keeping chapter work consistent with adopted rules and member votes.
Coordination
Helping officers, committees, working groups, and chapter-wide projects communicate and address needs that cross organizational boundaries.
Membership
Accountability to the membership
The General Membership remains the chapter’s highest decision-making body. Matters reserved to the membership are decided through the chapter’s democratic processes rather than by Steering alone.

The bylaws establish the chapter’s formal structure. The Member Handbook provides practical guidance for participation, internal processes, committees, working groups, and member decision-making.
