Who We Are

The Savannah Chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is dedicated to building a more free, democratic, and equitable society in Savannah, Chatham County, and all surrounding towns and counties. As part of the largest socialist organization in the United States, we believe that a better world is possible—one where the needs of people come before profit, and where everyone has a real voice in the decisions that shape our lives.

Our mission is rooted in the liberation of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities, the empowerment of the working class with zero regard to their citizen status, and the fight for self-determination for all peoples. We oppose Western imperialism and the capitalist systems of global exploitation that perpetuate injustice and inequality. We stand in solidarity with all who resist colonialism, occupation, and oppression—here and around the world.

Free Palestine. Free Congo. Free Sudan. Free Myanmar. Free Hawaii. Free Puerto Rico. Free American Samoa. Free Guam. Land Back. Land Back. Land Back!

Savannah DSA champions community organizing, political education, mutual aid, and advocacy as tools to build collective power. We host regular events, weekly mutual aid setup, and actions to educate and mobilize our membership and the broader public. Our campaigns address the urgent needs of our community, from housing justice and labor rights to racial and economic equity.

We are guided by the principles of democracy, solidarity, and mutual respect. Our chapter is a welcoming and inclusive space for all who share our vision, and we are governed by a code of conduct that ensures respect, equity, and accountability among our members. We believe that rigorous debate, collective action, and a commitment to liberation in all its forms are essential to building the movement we need.

Join us as we work together to build a Savannah—and a world—where everyone can live free from oppression, with dignity, security, and the power to shape their own future.
